    Quiet Intoxication

    Quiet Intoxication

    Intoxicating charm was his poison
    Flowing swiftly thru me
    Making a persuasive plea

    His other worldliness drew me near
    As he gazed shyly into my eyes;
    I felt myself hypnotized

    Like an experienced snake charmer
    He was transfixed and aloof
    Embodying good or evil, I could find no proof

    Recklessly surrendering to his poisonous charms
    There was no pain, no before, no after
    We relinquished ourselves to quiet laughter

    Mystery still lied between our lusty souls
    The depths of pain I would not feel
    For the charmers charms seemed all to real

    Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
