"Seventeen"

                        "Seventeen"

From day one to your first year
Holding you in my arms, keeping you near
Then came those terrible two's
Catching you before you fell, never wanting you to bruise
Next thing you know my baby is three
Walking, talking and running free
I close my eyes for only a second, and you were four
My beautiful baby girl I love and adore
Chasing your brother and being wild, Yep! you were now five
Watching you two play gave me such joy
I'm thankful that you were a girl and not a boy
The school years were fine growing from six to nine
My baby is now turning ten, time for the birds and bees
I wish you could be forever in your two's or three's
Leaving grammar and heading for middle school
Watching you swim and dive in the pool
My baby is growing up into a teen
Momma's not looking forward to thirteen to fifth teen
You and me together, what a great team
My little sweetheart was now sweet sixteen
Wow! How time fly's when your having fun
What! Your how old, No way , Not twenty-one
I got scared for a minute, just a dream
Happy Birthday Mariah, Your so beautiful at Seventeen...

You must be very proud of your daughter. Great job, keep writting

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
