    "The Heart of My Rose"

    By my senses I suspect
    And looking back in retrospect
Did I capture it with looks?
Or read about it in a book?
How do I find the intricate parts?
Of secrets hidden in its heart.

Petals placed so neat & bare
    Resonates a gardener's care
    Shadows lain in spaces deep
    Bud like petals forcefully keeping
Hold onto the dew now drenched in
    A dripping halo God dispensed.

Oh the night was long and I
Surprised to see more than I knew
    Sweeping stems so graceful lay
Touched by God it meets the day
I caress it in my hand
Nothing but my heart I lend.

Please dear Rose, will you now vent?
For the hours I have spent
Seeing how I care to know
A Rose's Heart, how does it grow?
When placed into my Vase I see
Your heart will open up to me!

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
