    Reflection of Me

Here I am sitting in my favorite restaurant, alone again, with disappointment dripping from every pore,
I silently prayed, “Lord, when will I find the “right” one, one who is willing to offer and give so much more.

As I sat there drinking my coffee and wallowing in my misery,
This brother came and gave his order, and then turned and bumped into me.
He turned to me to apologize,
As I looked up straight into his eyes.
He smilingly said, “excuse me beautiful,” let me buy you another,
    To replace the other.
So I’m thinking, “he’s just the same, trying to run some game,”
But Lord, he was a fine looking brother.

He proceeded to sit down, and as we talked he said he was a year new to this town, being born and raised in Chicago,
We laughed and talked for the next 45 minutes, as sometimes old friends will do, so why was his smile affecting me so?

We met everyday, at our little sidewalk café, for a couple of months when he asked me out on a date,
He suggested a movie and dinner and even promised not to keep me out too late.
Girl, I had everything I owned laid out on my bed, trying to choose in my head, so that I would take his breath away,
When I opened the door, his mouth dropped on the floor, and he couldn’t quite get out what he wanted to say.
Now don’t get me wrong, cause I’m not going to toot my own horn, cause the brother was looking just as sharp and as fine as can be.
As I caught my reflection, I wondered, “does he see the real me?”

He grabbed my hand as we proceeded to cross the street,
That ignited a spark that started in my feet.

He brought me back home and walked me to my door as we shared more laughter,
As I’m thinking, “Lord, if I invite him in, will there be an after?”

He turned me around and looked me deeply in my face, now we’re still in the hall and not in my place, then he said, “I’ve been looking all my life to find the woman of my dreams to make her my wife, and I know that I’ve found her in you,
I was as speechless as can be, cause I was feeling him too, standing there with my mouth open, just wishing and hoping.
He gently lifted my chin, and said now look deeply within, and tell me if you see any lies in my eyes,
So I looked in his eyes and there weren’t any lies, I had to be honest and tell him exactly what I saw, and what I saw was…………………………………………..A Reflection Of ME!!!!!!!

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
