    Reincarnation

Started to write a short lovely poem
Of undying love, my affection for you
But words wouldn’t, couldn’t come easily
Not ringing true, because my thoughts of you
    Interrupted, left me speechless, will
Not rhyme, because there’s no easy way
Expressing feelings I now have, since we’ve
    Reconnected, beyond emotion’s ethereal plane
We were not supposed to happen once
Again, since this love should happen only
One time, was to never darken our humbled
Doorstep again, not to be haunting, with what
Could have been, choosing a thorny path
Not taken, eschewed for some insane reason
Now finding us upon a new path that could lead
    To understanding, re-evaluating this togetherness
Now knowing once more one I cherished
But lost, not realizing the significance of it all
Our love, healing powers showered upon me, us
Comes rebirth, all that’s good in this our winter of life
