Remember, Please!
All the joys and blessings left unseen
Never noticed for what they are
Busy controlling, teaching
The smile, giggle, wanting to be
Just like you, disappears
Being firm and tough is wonderful and needed
Teaches morals, respect, and responsibilities
Learning to become a man
Watches your every move
You’re every word spoken
Misses and loves you all the time
But nervous and scared at the same
This he does not understand
And neither do you or me
But this I want to remind you
With every lesson a gentle touch
Will always be needed
Love and tenderness
Makes for a well rounded man
Look at you, you’re a man
Without any doubt
But you have a gentle side
You do not beat or abuse
And that is what I want for my sons
Please, don’t change who you are
But there are some things
And sometimes a gentle mix is what is needed
Yes, I know that is my job
But think back it’s the father’s job as well
Its how a man learns to be just that
But a good man learns gentle is okay
Love and respect is the goal
That is what I want them to know
This from you I know they will learn
But just remember, Please,
Gentle with firm is what will earn.
