    Poem Commentary

    Inspired by a Senior Chief I served with, this is a dedication to him upon his retirement...2006.

    Sailor of the Sea


    A lifetime it may seem

    Roving the sea,

    adventure, sacrifice,

    timeless memories

     

    Honorable,

    dedicated service…

    The United States Navy

     

    Knot after knot,

    from shore to shore…

    True Can-do spirit,

    accomplishments galore

     

    Chartered well, Planned ahead

    No regrets, now,

    a new course is set

     

    Standing on the shore,

    gazing out over the sea

    In an instant, a flood of memories

     

    Only a sailor who has been to sea

    Will truly appreciate the majesty

    Sail on forever…wherever you may be

    God be with you…always,

    Mighty Sailor of the Sea
