Shadow In The Dust

Shadow In The Dust

THE AGE OLD BOOK LAID
TAGGERED AND WORN
YELLOWED PAGES FROM
YEARS OF DUST AND SCORN.
STORIES SPOKEN OF HISTORY PAST,
AS I LOOKED UPON THE WORDS IT CAST.
THE MOTHER AND FATHER AS TIME BEGAN,
OUT OF THE DARKNESS, INTO THE LIGHT
FOR THE ANIMALS TOOK TO HEAVEN’S FLIGHT.
THE BROTHERS HARSH WORDS
CUT HARD AS STONE,
FOR THE BOAT CARRIED MULTIPLES OF TWO
THROUGH THE STORM.
THE VALLEY OF SONGS HEARD
UPON THE NEW DAY DAWN,
FOR THE STAR GUIDED WISE MEN
TO THE BIRTH OF ONE.
THE OCEAN OPENED WIDE
FOR THE CHILDREN OF GOD,
TO FINALLY ESCAPES THE DEVIL’S EVIL PROD.
THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB WASHING OVER EACH DOOR,
TO BRING LIFE ASSURED TO THOSE FIRST BORN.
THE BOOK READ OF A STORY
AS MY EYES FILLED WITH TEARS
AS THE MOTHER’S LOVE
DECIDED THE CHILD’S FUTURE YEARS.
10 LITTLE LESSONS WRITTEN
INTO THE ROCK,
CARRIED HEAVILY BY THE WISE OLD MAN
UPON THE MOUNTAINTOP.
MY EYES READ FASTER UPON
THAT AGE OLD BOOK,
TELLING OF THE BUSH THAT
BURNED BRIGHTLY INTO THE NIGHT.
A PRAYER RANG OUT ON THE LIPS
OF THE SERVANT’S CRY.
BLESSING THE LAST SUPPER EATEN
WHILE HANDS HELD TIGHT.
MY FINGERTIPS TOUCHED
LIGHTLY DOWN ON THE
SHEETS OF OLD
AS MY HEART BEAT FASTER
WITH EACH STORY TOLD.
THE HOPE AND FAITH SEEN IN
THE SERVANT’S EYES,
AS THE BRAVE MAN OF GOD
WALKED INTO THE LION’ DEN.
THE DOGWOOD TREE CARRIED HEAVILY
ON THE SHOULDER’S OF JUST ONE
THE SON’S WORDS SANG TO HIS FATHER
IN THE HEAVENLY GRACE.
AS I FINISHED READING THE STORIES
OF MANY BLESSINGS OF OLD
FOR I REALIZED THE MEANING OF LIFE
LIVED WITHIN THE SHADOW IN THE DUST.

i love this poem the Bible sumed up in a poem very good command of what the Bible is all about all the word you can just picture the people and places in history as told in the bilbe long ago

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.

Plato (BC 427-BC 347) Greek philosopher.
