    Should Of

I've never thought I'd have a love like ours,
Until I waved goodbye from that car.
Would I take it back? I know so,
But then I wouldn't know just what I had.
And now I'm sittin' here feeling bad,
For all the things I've done to make you feel sad.
And for all the times I wished you could feel my pain,
When I'm singing this to you in the rain alone.
Wishing I could have you in my home.
To show you everything in my heart,
And promise to you we will never part!
I should of stayed with you.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
