Sleepers

Sleepers

I walk the night
taking in the darkness
looking for something
I cannot find
I feel the sleepers
all around me
in the buildings,
in the earth.
They are the one's
I envy---
lost to themselves
tucked away in
unconsciousness
taking in other realms
and unknown wonders
their dream states
processing the
day's joys and
disappointments.
While I am alone---
just me---
wandering, seeking
sleep
in the solitary night.

Hello di47on, I hope you don't mind that i'm here again to feast mine eyes upon the beauty of your works who found their way in to my heart? Is the night not a magical time for most of us, that time wen the world is at a break awaiting the adventure of a dream? We are on our own to wonder... Wonderful poem, loved it! Greetings: Sammylin.

We all strive to see the truth or reality but sometimes you need to rest and shut it down. Those times we envy those who go through life unaware or asleep.

sleepers is one of the few personal poems I have written lately. I have difficulty sleeping and often write while others are sleeping.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
