Stand Alone

Stand Alone

i stand alone
on a street corner
i have no hope
and i'm slipping under
i cannot find a gentle hand to pull me out
of this crowd
that i'm lost in
i cannot win
i push and i pull
i'm fighting the rules
and i'm back here on the ground again
i'm okay but not safe
that's the one thing that i crave
but i'm back here on the ground again
i ask them to leave, i just want this to end
but they come to have fun, and they bring their friends
i'm not a circus show
but they laugh at me, they laugh at me
i push and i pull
i'm fighting the rules
and i'm back here on the ground again
i'm okay but not safe
that's the one thing that i crave
but i'm back here on the ground again

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
