    Struggle of a Soldier



    (Unedited memories of one of our American heroes in battle)

     

     

    I erase from my heart… the past… the unpleasant memories

    Though I knew that one day they might be coming back

    Coming back and unwrap   the atrocious   experiences

    Those agonizing feelings in the battle to survive

     

    I used to talk to God … demanding for answers

    Why life is unpredictable - I asked - despite of all the facts

    “The unknown is uncertain but you must know better

    Because times go around and always come back”

     

    Not happy with the answer but as a true believer

    I found myself the courage to encounter my fate

    Now… I am facing back my past … maybe just temporarily

    But the flash of those memories … are not easy to depart

     

    Soon… I’ll leave my family, my roots and my hometown

    My comrades are not here, some wounded, some are gone

    I am a Marine, a Soldier… lack of emotions, aggressive

    But screaming in silence   everyday during war

     

    I   gave my word to my nation, and to my flag in this uniform

    And I will honor my pledge with my life if I have to

    I know some may believe I am a soldier before human

    Please forgive me if I fail I am just telling my  truth

    i am from a soldier family, my brother is currently fighting in iraq and soon will be in Afghanistan...it is true they are taught to withhold emotion, to be more soldier than human...i dont think the government truly understands what they ask of the men and women who fight for us...once you let go of your humanity, you will never again be completely human...you let the animal in, it never dies....nice poem secret, if you get thechance, id appreciate a crit of my poem SALVATION OF THE ROSES

    This is a very well written poem! Thank God for those who fight for our freedom! Your poem puts in perspective what they give up for us! The, "screaming in silence" and "soldier before human", both remind me, that Freedom isn't Free! Well done!

    This is a wonderful and inspirational write that takes us inside the mind of one of those young people that must prepare to face the horrors of war. Very nicely done.

    I am sure you are telling your truth and I pray that you will be safe and coming back. The words you weave tell me that since you know what to expect when you go back that it will be harder and I pray a miracle that the war will end.

    This may have been about a friend but it was very well done and captured the thoughts of many during war. War is the destroyer souls, life, and happiness. A necessary evil I suppose. Once you are forced to drink from this fountain your life is forever changed. 10 from me.
