The Beasts Within
THE BEASTS WITHIN

welcome to this place within me
its called hell...
the fires burn inside
the darkness engulfs
the pain fills every available spot
i can hide from it for a time
but it finds me
it hunts me down
one wrong spoken word
and the spiral begins
the pit is always there
always on hand
the beasts within
tear me to shreds
doubt
fear
worthlessness
sadness
pain
each beast has a name
pretend to be happy
but its not really there
pretend to be a person
but im not really alive
an empty shell
burned out long ago
nothing left
ripped to shreds
heart battered
torn to pieces
foot after foot stomped it into the ground
try to get close
the gap is still there
i reach out
no one is really there
there are those so much better than me
innocence long gone
a mere memory from days long ago
now fear resides
where hope once longed to rule
life is but a game
its all pretend
its the end
its time for the pain to stop
time for me to go
time for the beasts to be slain
