    Poem Commentary

I had gotten away from having queit times in the morning with the Lord. I was longing to to get back to that. After all he created us. Won't he also lead us through our day.

    The Blessing

If only I would turn to you each morning. If only I brought you my heart at the beginning of each day.

Then you would direct my steps, as my heart listens to you.

Your eyes are constantly turned toward your children and your ear is not far away.

Those who seek him will find him. Those who cry out will be heard.

Today is the day to call out to him. Today is the day to listen for his voice.

Those who wrestle with him will be given a new name. Those who won’t let go will be blessed.

The Lord says this “I have heard your cry’s and seen your struggles and yet you have not let go of me. As a reward your eyes will be opened. The veil that blinded you will be removed and you shall see My Face.”

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
