The Effect of Darkness
The darkness creeps overYou see it coming
But you don't stop it
Can't stop it
You hide
Thinking it'll just blow over
But it doesn't just blow over
Instead it gets darker and darker
Until you can't see anything
Lost and alone in the dark
And you think back to when you saw it coming
And you know it wouldn't be as dark
If you had dared to try to stop it
But you can't go back
No one can go back
You're in the dark so long
That you don't remember when there was light
When there was happiness
All you know is the dark
And how much you always feel alone
One day you see something
Actually see something
Some light off in the distance
You get closer, you're eyes buring from lack of use
Once you've almost reached the light
It goes out
All the thoughts of how that one light could have changed everything
Flood your mind
The darkness is even more dark than before
If that was even possible
You wander the darkness
Never again seeing that light
Or any other light
Doomed to live alone in the dark
Forever.
