    The gateway

    Through your eyes,
    I see you soul.
    But in your soul,
    there is much dark.
    This is the dark,
    which covers your heart.
    But beyond the dark,
    there is light.
    This is the light,
    only of true love.
    But in this love,
    there is pain.
    The pain of regret,
for hurting the one you love.
But in the one you love,
    there is much strength.
    This is the strength
    that you love dear.
But it is also the strength,
    that you fear.
    This is the fear,
of loosing the one you love.
    For with their strength,
    comes a great weakness.
    But this Weakness is,
    for the one they love.
    So you hide your heart,
    and darken you soul.
    Hoping they will,
    forget your love and,
    overcome their weakness.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
