The Healing

The Healing

Standing in the pouring rain
arms extended toward the dark sky
Inhailing, trying to fill my lungs
with the chilled thick air
Closing my crying eyes tightly
Thinking it might help it to stop

The rain pours over my face
through my hair
Soaking my clothing and flesh
Just trying to wash away the pain in my chest
Stinging as it hits exposed bare flesh
Making me aware I am still alive

Ever so slowly
The pain begins to ease
Like the rain
Releasing the tight grip on my heart
Instantly knowing your fine
Wherever you are.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
