The Heart Screams

Time goes much too quickly,

When it is spent in idle wandering.

In and out; in and out,

I spend my time drifting between these two worlds.

Love and hate yet prove to be not so simple.

Your smile is the guiding light through the dark tunnel

That you yourself have placed in front of me.

What then am I to be left with,

As the faint glimmer of hope disappears beyond the horizon

     of my mind.

Cascading down slippery slopes of soiled dreams are we.

So how be the resolution then,

As I wait trapped in a perpetual circle of fear and yet forgiveness?

"So that then is the key to everlasting love", you say blindly,

As I grasp desperately for the you that was once there,

And will never be again.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
