The Leading Lady

The Leading Lady

Watching an old movie and struck by the actor's lines
Words that seemingly ring true to past love designs

As I continue to watch the scene alone in my head
Cuddled with blankets in my overstuffed platform bed

Could I not deny; the well-planned outcome to each great love-affair
"Always the friend, never the leading lady." - this program line did declare

The phase is indeed true ... I am the lady they seem to dismiss
I guess I'm racking up the friends as we all continue to reminisce

I like your style. Human and real. So much emotion penned and expressed freely .

Hi K -- Thank you for your comments and you were right a enjoyed your poem "Broken Candy Wrapper". An entertaining read!

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
