The Lost Soul
A child so special and gentle when born
A feeling so dear to make thy heart warm
A woman made strong, she walked in the light
Prepared for anything, she fought the fight
No one ever knows what the future holds
Thus begins the tale of the lost soul
She held him in her arms whenever he cried
With the milk from her breast she fed him with pride
She nursed his wounds and healed the pain
Whenever he fell, she picked him up again
No presence from his father, she fed him knowledge from her mind
From her heart came the love only from a mother you'll find
She groomed him in a way a man ought to be
Somehow along the way she failed to see
The soul of her young boy slipping away
A soul unable to find its way
From troubles to more troubles, he ran and ran
And as a single mother doing all she can
She came and lifted him off the ground
Through all the heartache somehow she found
The strength to carry on and stand by his side
Not knowing long age that his soul had died
Nothing remained but an empty shell
She filled it with encouragement 'cause all else failed
Regardless of the pain, she stayed devoted and true
For that is what a mother is supposed to do
Yet he kept her going in the wrong direction
Offering her more pain, instead of protection
Life was a joke and nothing mattered anymore
He had nothing to lose and nothing to live for
A vision of hope was never in his reach
He walked all over whoever he seeked
He was tormented- his life a living hell
Nothing but sorrow remained wherever he dwelled
He revealed only a part of himself, never the whole
Now her prayers aren't for him, but for his lost soul
A feeling so dear to make thy heart warm
A woman made strong, she walked in the light
Prepared for anything, she fought the fight
No one ever knows what the future holds
Thus begins the tale of the lost soul
She held him in her arms whenever he cried
With the milk from her breast she fed him with pride
