    The One

Befor I met you I felt alone in a crowd.
My words fell silent, no matter spoken how loud.
But in you I have found my destiny.
Though I'm not complete, I give you the rest of me.
At times our relationship has seemed cursed,
but we have stood side by side, together through the worst.
I loved you then and I love you still.
For you there are no words to express how I feel.
Each night as I lie down and begin to pray,
I thank God for sending one of his angels my way.
At times I lash out like an angrey beast,
but you are always there to restore within me peace.
In your eyes I see the rest of my days.
You accept all of my shortcomings and arrogant ways.
In my heart I know that it is true,
I am a better man because of you.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
