The Princess, the Maiden, and the Raven
Hail Hark and Caw! To the Prince beyond the sea
With deception and intentions impure
His self-interest brought the call of three
To unwind his web of lies at the core.
Hail beautiful Princess from another land
Who’s heart was young and full of gold
He took her from another man
Because she was left by her betrothed.
Playing the part of a single man
He found a wounded bird; a black Raven
Who became a bewitching woman after midnight
And he soon became enraptured by her given fight.
Unknowing to his Princess
He pursued the wounded bird
Who cawed and warned him of the dangers inside her
And knowledge of his philandering process.
Tried as he might to win a witch’s heart
He failed at getting her defense from closed to open.
Not realizing her involvement later, would cause his world to fall apart.
By revealing his lies to a fiery Maiden.
Hark to the Maiden of fire and vigor
Who through a mutual friend therein
Became friends with the Raven
And whom Prince soon began to pursue with eager.
Vicious soon he became to the Raven
Who didn’t understand or want to believe with her eyes and ears
Vicious soon he became to his Princess
Who he chose to leave in tears.
So after the Maiden his chase went
Who didn’t yet see his lies
Until she told the Raven of his pursuit
Which to the Raven came as a shock and surprise.
Raven witch and lass who felt no better than him
Decided to call out his lies to warn her friend
With a clever capture of truth
Showed the Maiden words most uncouth
Great thankfulness to the Raven the Maiden gave
And respect for the truth she told so brave
Great thankfulness to the Maiden the Raven expressed
For opening up her eyes to lies that needed to be addressed
The Prince beyond the sea
Accused the Raven of a lying whore to be
And tried to convince the Maiden the same
But the Maiden knew the truth and gave him a lie and false claim
Raven lass subtly check that to the Maiden no harm came
And quietly she withdrew in the shadows; herself to reclaim
There she worked regaining dignity
Through determination, rest, and humility
There Raven thought she had perhaps done wrong
Soon to discover the abuse she had endured so long
Unknown to Raven yet the good she had brought
But soon to hear the great beneficence and virtue about her others thought.
All the while the Prince pursued the Maiden
Who’s cold shoulder he felt by this fiery woman
Confused he soon became
When her friends told Prince to stay away
Tried as Prince might to understand
Soon realized the Maiden had found another man
And also still spoke with her friend Raven witch and lass
Prince now finding his web becoming his own morass
Like a rug beneath him his world was pulled undone
As from each girl Prince lost his hold on
And soon knowledge of his deceit his friends and family caught wind
Leaving him alone to face himself and own shame in the end
As time passed he learned himself to truly love
Through the shame he felt and as others called him out
Later time he saw the Raven who was now a Dove
And begged forgiveness from her for his slandering bout.
Caringly she forgave her dear friend
Thanking him for her new King in the end
And came the Maiden with her new Knight; who wasn’t him
Along with the Princess and another King with forgiveness to send.
With deception and intentions impure
