The Shattered Heart
The winter's wind scolds me, growling hardMy hair blows forcefully, as I fall apart
My eyes watch the browning grass trying to breathe
As I feel the same, suffocation building inside of me
I am haunted by memories of a past life
Remembering only hardens my heart like ice inside
Pain cuts through me with a jagged knife, hearing those laughs I miss so much, I stumble aside
More forcefully the wind strengthens it's powers
Quickly and roughly embracing me, the pain is endless hours
I cry to release the heartache, asking why have I been forsaken
But all I feel is the coldness of rage, my body overtaken
Being rejected by not only people, but life itself
My heart bursts like never before, I search for help
But no one is there, as I search endlessly.
I have been left to this pain, my destruction, this agony
The pieces of my heart fall like tiny pieces of glass
So small, so fragile, yet they represent my past
They eccumulate on the cold winter's grass
As I fall to my knees, everything happening so fast
My blood thickens like a frozen rose in the snow
My eyes begin to tear, but the tears cannot show
I grasp the ground with all my might
Shivering inside, the warmth leaves my veins tonight
And as my eyes turn black and cold with pain so deep
I curse those who hurt me, the one's who defeated me
But as I lay there, alone and afraid
A shadow emerges over me and says;
" I am here, forever and always", his voice so true
He pulled me in his arms and held me the whole night through
When dawn arose, my eyes opened wide
Only to find myself alone again, nothing but desperation inside
Yet as I looked to the ground below
A small box next to me begins to glow
I opened it carefully losing all my strength
and pulled out a piece of paper, short in length
" We cannot allow our heart to become torn
Like a cold winter storm
Release all the darkness from inside
And you shall forever have light."
Inside lay a rose, in full bloom it lay
My heart sprinkled across the petals meant to say;
Live life with love and forever stay true
And you shall find yourself the whole way through
