    the smallest price to pay

    the smallest price
    to pay for love
is the rest of your life
but the biggest thing you'll ever risk
    is your eternal heart
    and your trust.
life is the easiest thing to rebuild
but trust and a heart can take a lifetime
of regret and pain and suffering
treat your love with every respect
and don't make other people's mistakes

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
