The Takeover
Great Grandma held the rope that hung from the pond tree,
she gave a loud yell and her body flew free!
We held our breath as she started to fall,
her perfect swan dive turned into a cannonball!
She hit the water and Great Grandma went down,
way, way down, where the fish swim around!
Minutes went by and our thoughts were of dread,
we were ready to jump in, when up popped her head!
Great Grandma spit out a tadpole and swam to the shore,
she grabbed hold of the rope swing, she was ready for more!
We went home because there was no more hope,
Great Grandma was not going to give up the rope!
In the winter when the pond is frozen like slate,
we will be there with Great Grandma, but we're hiding our skates!
