The Three Rooms of Him

Poem Commentary

This is old. I just wanted to have something to post. :)

The Three Rooms of Him

There’s a red room that holds my veins
and where my tattered wings hang from chains
and a corner where my halo rests.

There’s a blue room that holds my tears
and washes away my simple fears
and down a drain they fall.

There’s a green room that holds emotions
and throws away love and devotion
and keeps envy and hatred instead.

In these rooms, an angel falls,
and naked I lay along the walls
for I cannot hold myself up
without my wings.

And when I leave these rooms behind,
I’ll no longer have a selfless mind,
for angels only last so long
inside a devil’s home.

This is a fine poem, you have a lot of feeling and the ability to express it. Keep writing!

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
