    The Wall

Guard protect and cherish your land. For there is no after life for a place that started out as heaven.

    The Wall

I may look like many walls you have seen from a distance - but up close, what I hold, no other wall has ever had the strength to hold before. For what I hold are the souls of thousands and the pains of a nation. There is not a day that goes by that I'm not touched by hands, paper or tears. No matter what the time of day, there is always someone who wants to talk to me - I will listen to them and will never judge them. My picture has been taken many times and gifts are left with me. I have been given a place of honor but I am not alone for I have brothers who go from city to city, carrying the souls that I do. My brothers also bring some comfort to those in pain, and some inner peace to those who look for it, every time someone touches me, I take some of their pain, for there is no limit to the pain I can share and will keep. When it is quiet you can hear the souls say "thank you for not forgetting about us." There are many who hear these voices saying "thank you" and then they say to them, "We won't let any ever forget what you have given."

Wonderful tribute to the wonderful soldiers who served in that war. As the sister of a deceased Vietnam Vet. I hope we never forget the lives lost, the missing , maimed, wounded and hurt. as you said the wall doesn't let that happen. great piece.

A beautiful poetry that i heard.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

    Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
