    The wide divide

        I come to you with teary eyes while my heart breaks;
         is it the end of us or just a beginning of a new life apart?
         I often ask myself where did we go wrong or maybe it was
         for the best we live in separate locales anyhow.
         Afterall we don't want the outside criticize who you are--
         I'm used to it by now but not by you, my used to be lover.
         Now I'm just a friend of you while maybe no more than this
         I'll be here if or when you want or need me to be more than I.
         My heart is breaking, my eyes are tearing while I'm fighting like
         a soldier in not being too overly emotional as we sleep in bed,apart.
