    These Are My Men

Put your hands upon your chest. Extend your arm…salute me!

I raised you to be strong.

I educated you and instilled in you the power of knowledge and wisdom. I stressed the value of humility and taught you to never undermine anyone or anything.

You must be valiant, and you are.

You must learn to sacrifice for your brothers, not because you’re obligated to but because it is right,

and boys have I not taught you what is right?

You mustn’t trust anyone entirely, not even your own voice, which will attempt to deceive and break you, and as this might seem extreme, to survive in this world one must often take…

    extreme measures.

You must be able to distinguish your enemy from your friend. You might even pity your enemy and reason with him. But God forbid this tactic fails, protect yourself by any means.

You can love, but you won't. You don’t want people’s love. You don’t need it. Love can easily turn to fear and fear into hate.

No. What you want is people’s respect.

I am not teaching you to be artificial. When my teachings are done, you will be men capable of making independent, intelligent decisions.

Never get yourself in anything you can’t get out of. And finally, the most efficient defense you can possess is the ability to speak.

This is essential in almost any arena. Learn to speak clearly and eloquently as I demonstrated.

Your audience must not only listen but also feel; great speakers have always appealed to the intellect,

    as well the heart.

Be proud and never forget that you are human, that you bleed, that you err as anyone else and that such imperfections will make you stronger.

    These are my men.
