Poem Commentary

I wrote this poem after breaking up with someone i still had love for. This is for love once had but now lost.

This Love

A walk through the woods on a warm spring day
Through the trees and the morning dew
A love that I had made me feel this way
The love that I had for you
A bowl of soup to warm the heart
On a cold and wintery day
Still defines,but just in part
This love that would not stay
The more and more I try to define
This love that I once had
I feel as though it were never mine
This feeling so cold and sad
And as I dream of you at night
Or think of you to long
I have to stand with all my might
For I know this love is gone

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
