      Thoughts

     Little girl never sit still
       Racing thoughts.
Please don't go to sleep before I do
          I cannot fall asleep.

My mind everlasting, working like a
          rhythmical clock.
          Endless thoughts.

                 "Please, Shelley, sit still!"
             they would say.
             What's wrong with me
              I ask each day?

            Neverending thoughts.
             Cheerleader, competitor, party girl,
           volunteer, mother.
I have to get going now.

             Unending thoughts.
I'm in love but I'm lonely.
My companion is away I cannot sleep.
Please don't go to sleep before I do.

I tend to think it can be a good thing until it comes time to sleep. Then I take a sleep aid. My brother is bipolar and maybe I have some tendancies towards that too. Although he has the clssic manic ups and downs. I think my thoughts just get ahead of myself and my words can't catch up. I cry easily but I don't get REAL happy or REAL sad. Tend to be pretty stable with an antidepressant to be truthful.....No other poems for now but I guess I will try my hand at some more. Since you responded, it is encourageing. Thank you. Shelley

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
