Transformation
a turtle
sluggishly
rocking
back and forth
steps
gingerly
upon ice . . .
sliding, sliding,
falls. . .
is falling
down,
far down
the steep mountain rocks
falling down
through centuries
awakens then
suddenly
inside a nest
of soft and feathered
birds.
