TRUE LOVE
When I was a little girl
I wondered if one day
I would find a man
That would take my breath away
I imagined how it would feel
To love someone so true
And what it would be like
If he felt the same way too
I often asked how I would know
If I were truly in love
Would God give me some sort of sign
From the Heavens above
Would I feel some sort of magic
Travel through my body and soul
If he kissed me for the first time
Would I lose all control
I often wondered
If everyone falls in love
Or are we chosen randomly
By our Lord above
This love I dreamt about
So long ago as a little girl
Came into my life
He walked right in
This boy, not quite a man
And took my breath away
Unlike any other could or can
I didn't realize it at first
That this was a love so true
But I knew it was something very special
These feelings between us two
What started out as a friendship
Developed into something more
And before I knew it, he had in his hands
My Heart, forever more
I cherished every moment
That we spent together
And soon I was learning
That I was in love with another
I can still feel his breath
On my smiling face
His lips moving closer to mine
As we closely embrace
I can still see us standing
On that Galveston jetty
Him holding me
With a love so unrelenting
Our memories I will cherish
Until my dying day
Memories that have kept me going
While you have been away
I will hold on to the hope
Of you finding your way back to me
So that we can go on loving
For all eternity
This poem is dedicated to you
The man, no longer a boy
My one and only true love
Bobby Dale Owen.
With all my love,
Jackie
