    untitled

    Begging for crumbs of affection.
    Don't even recognize this reflection.
    Mirror must be lying.
    Look old.
    Look like dying.
    Phone rings.
    Sets my heart to flying.
    Numbers are wrong.
    There I go off crying.
    Eternity passes.
    Life stands still.
    Everything changes in a moment
At the mercy of his will.
Snatched from me like candy from a babe.
    Held hostage now
I may as well be his slave.
    Dangling just out of reach,
    the key to my freedom.
If I could only grow two feet.
    Tears pool on the floor.
My life has stolen out the door.
    Used them as pawns,
    Murdered my heart.
    Universe is falling apart.

You have portrayed the hellish emotional turmoil of codependency well. Excellent work. Thanks!

Desperate, check. Despair, check. Helpless, check. I'm almost overwhelmed by the images. Have the same problem myself. I would like to see more words to explain the images generated by the words themselves. Good work.

very sorrowful-it does it's job. very visual and heart renching, stomach twisting, almost sickening. Makes you want to reach out and shake the whole thing up! Is this your poem or a memory. So glad I'm out of reach, Christ has set me free from this emotional terror.
