    Disillusioned

Has this world become so disillusioned and dysfunct that we can no longer see what lies so plainly before our eyes?
Trash and poison flow through our rivers and streams.
There are an innumerable amount of toxins in our air.
Children are starving, cold, lonely and dying in the streets.
People are no longer nice to one another when they meet.
Soldiers are marching off to war; Do they even know what they are fighting for?
Children no longer look to the junky on the corner for their high; They find it in your cupboard wearing your doctors name as a disguise.
What has the world come to?
a man will not shake the hand of another man for fear that he will take his life or his wife.
Children know words like "Nigger", "Raghead", "Spic", and "Wap".
People will take the time to flip you the bird before they will take the time to tell you what time it is.
You can get killed for being in the wrong place at the wrong time; what kind of reason is that?
You would rather laugh in a mans face than give him some change.
People would rather kill a man than pay him what he is owed.
When will we see the error of our ways?
When will this world begin to change?
Will we let our planet die?
When it does we will be unable to cry.
Will we ever learn to love one another?
After all we are all sisters and brothers.

I once was a part of a blood pressure study, I have low blood pressure but when focused on these angry, frustrating, depressing human concerns my pressure shot up. I am glad I moved out of NYC for that very reason. I am not in denial but I view whatsoever is Pure, lovely and is of good report. The 10/11 o'clock news can give you a lethal dose. That's what the drugged out life is all about! Escape Eternal Death! CHOOSE LIFE!

Very good poem-great message and delivered beautifully.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
