    Whatever Happened To.....

What happened to Double Soul? You opened a can of worms,
independents live on their own terms.
Support our endeavours, the twins will survive,
attend our engagements, keep the soul name alive.
The road has been long and hard and marred by setbacks,
can't express the hunger to bless you with fresh tracks.
But as long as you inquire, another page will be filled,
i'll stay motivated to be Watters that are Still.
The love keeps me going, the pounds and the hugs,
ambivalent of the screws from the thugs.
The business has taken over, the music is secondary,
am i disgusted with the big names? very.
i'll stay free from the major slave masters, be underground in the field,
remain cautious about the words this pen wields.
When the sun sets in God's sky and I see my reflection,
i'll take pride in my and hip-hop's connection.
The difference between me and the rest of these big sheep,
is that this culture is what i walk, breathe and sleep.
I may never have a club hit to make fools spill their drinks,
because my mission is to make my people think.
Where are you headed in life? Should a child follow your steps?
Are you a proper role model? Will you keep them in check?
or do clothes, cars and chicks have you so damn confused,
you're like a team from T.O- you lose.
This is my outlet, not sweating 12 inch's and LP's,
I'll do this long after the 50's and Jay-Z's.
God granted me a gift, I'll never tarnish that shine,
success will come my way in due time.
    Just have patience.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
