Who will brush the Dragon's Teeth?
A maiden faire approached the King
for a moment of his time.
"Greetings Sire, I humbly seek
to report an awful crime"!
"A crime"? the King cried, quite amazed.
"Has harm come to our land"?
The loyal subjects now advanced,
heads bowed and hats in hand.
The maiden went on, in a desperate tone,
in the effort to explain.
"The dragon's breath must be addressed ~
and it's a crime that you abstain!"
"A royal caretaker must be assigned
to care for his dental needs,
for the purpose of a 'toothless dragon'
escapes us all indeed!"
"The ghastly, rancid, reeking stench
has even reached our town
and each morning as the dragon naps,
our shops have all shut down!"
...And his eating habits, what a TRAGIC affair!
This is why we've come to you!
He's destroying crops and orchards
and he's ate the bread shop too!
The King looked concerned
and stroked his beard,
then nodded in accord.
"A caretaker shall be proclaimed!"
And he drew his mighty sword.
So the King's proclaimation was posted,
thoughout the royal land.
Asking for a caretaker
for the dragon, "Ferdinand".
He asked for a 'brave yet gentle man'
and his pay would reflect his skill.
Prior experience with animal health
was preferred for this subject's ills.
But nary a soul came forward,
and I blame this on the decree.
For on top in big black letters it read...
"Who Will Brush the Dragon's Teeth??"
for a moment of his time.
