    why are we here

    i'm in iraq,
    it feels like hell.

i stepped up to the plate,
when mother freedom rang her bell,
    when we ride,
    we ride with pride,
we try our best to stay alive.

    all gave some,
    and some gave all.

you gave none as your brothers fall.

you sit at home and watch the news,
why we fight, and pay our dues.

you sit at home, and criticise what we do,
    why are we here?
    were here for you!!!

War sucks in so many ways but not as much as all this media BS. They shove so much crap out at us through the TV screen, harping over and over on only their agendas.... Hey! This is WAR. No it isn't some cleaned up version, no it is not some corporate take over... NO we are sending our young people into a situation that is in no way pretty or easy! And yet they still go, and voluntarily I might add. Don't think for one minute that we all sit in front of that boob-tube and believe what they try to tell us.... I am military Mom, I know better! Keep the faith soldier, we sure do! mlea

wow great poem marine i know it must be hard 4 u and am sorry that some people made y'all feel unappreciated but i loved y'all and r proud that y'all protect us. great write. much love and peace

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
