    • I am once again sharing my life with a partner. Like has not been kind. I lost 2 men in my life in a period of 11 days 3 years ago. My September years hopefully will again allow a different kind of love to bring me contentment.

    Poem Commentary

Looking beyond what is taken for granted and letting other forces show me the way.

    Why Does The Sparrow Sing

Listening to the sparrows song, a melody so sweet
does it only sing to perhaps a mate to meet?
Or, does it sing so I a human with heavy heart,
can find a new beginning, my own tune to impart?

High up on a willow branch though it be not strong,
it continues to put forth rapture in it's song.
Somehow it watches the world from way up high,
sings to me as I wipe a tear from my eye.

If the sparrow can teach me a brand new melody
and a differnt way that my tired eyes may see,
I will take my pen and write, perhaps even show
what I heard that day, just before the snow.

There was strength, a clear and simple tune
that lifted my spirit and drove away my gloom.
I think I saw it smile just as it flew away
singing, I'll be back again on a warm spring day.

From even a sparrow one can re-learn the miracle of a friendly creation brought about by a friendly Creator. Love the questions posed, and your heart's answer. Harv

No matter my age Harv I have always questioned and the Creator has always answered. Thanks for reading. Justalady

Science will tell you the sparrow sings for one reason, religion for another, but I like your reason. It sings because God wills it to have a way to communicate its joy which can be shared by us if we but listen. A beautiful write.

I agree and nature has woven it's magic into my life for all these many years. But in order to know nature we also have to know a higher being than ourselves has created it. Glad you enjoyed.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
