    Winter Angel

Snowflakes fall quietly from the dark angry sky
The slow breeze rips at my skin
Each step I take gets harder
Closer and closer I get to the edge
    I'm ready to jump
Are you going to stop me...or do you really care?
I out stretch my arms and fall forward
    I plummet toward the ground
You begin to run after me,
Screaming, but a hand from behind holds you back
It is now that my wings show

    Soaring through the air...

I see you down below, looking up, awaiting my return
In one swoop I grab you from the grasp of fire
Angel, let me help you with your wings

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
