You Were

You were my one true love,
A true and real by nature, my fate,
Bound by love, my one true soul mate,
Why did I let me pride push you away?

You are gone now, so it's too late,
To turn back the clock and memories erase,
To hold you dear as you once did with me,
I realize now, what a fool, it's too late to be.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
