It's almost December again

with winds like yawning angels

half frozen

lethargic

petulant

knowing that when the snow

breaks earthly bounds

they are as

invisible as air

chasing each other

through drifts of falling ice

unobserved

November is closing

and her arms

fold into themselves

gathering what warmth remains

like depression coal

watching with lidded eyes

for the yawning angels

who stir the breeze

and dance

unnoticed

in the snow.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
