A LITTLE DITTY SPECIALLY WRITTEN FOR LAUREN
As you and Ollie join our two families of ‘Motley Crews’
Your love and happiness is our best news.
You are a prize for my son
His role as a man has just begun.
We all know Ollie’s NOT perfect and he may have some flaws,
But since he bites his nails he’ll never have claws.
I promise you he’ll treat you like a queen,
But he can fall asleep anytime, anywhere- well you know what I mean.
Even though he can rub two nickels together and not let go-
He’s generous and kind to those he knows.
He has one quirk that drives me wild,
He slurps his cereal and then he smiles.
He’s huggy and lovey and kissy-poo too-
Be careful these habits might bring a grandchild or two!
And when his mind sets a goal, he’ll finish until the end.
Eight years in college tells that tale, my friend.
He’s the ‘middle child’, so treat him well-
He’s not real crazy, but he’s between two brother crazy as HELL!
Lauren, since they say that boys marry their mothers,
You must be the best since we’re like each other.
So be happy in all that lies ahead,
And if times get tough just jump in bed.
As I said before, you really are the grand prize,
And lucky for me we’re about the same size.
*I wrote this poem for my new daughter-in-law at her Bridal Shower and chose the Georgia Font for this posting as that is where they were married*
