A Lost Angel

One last look

Into those eyes

Knowing the pain he would cause

He turned into the night

And left.

And yet,

Not a day,

Not a night,

Not a moment goes by

But that he picks at the scab in his heart

Opens it and lets it bleed

In mourning.

Privately

Quietly

He damns his actions

He damns his soul

He need only reach out

But can’t

She is only an inch away

Yet more than an eternity stands between them.
