    A Shoulder To Cry On

    A SHOULDER TO CRY ON

I NEED A SHOULDER TO CRY ON
    BABY, NOT JUST FOR TODAY
BUT EVERY TIME I NEEDA FRIEND
WHEN THINGS DON’T GO MY WAY

    WHEN THE WEATHER IS DREARY
    AND LIFE SEEMS SO UNFAIR
    I NEED SOMEBODY’S HELP
    YOU’RE ALWAYS THERE

I NEED A SHOULDER TO CRY ON
    MAYBE NOT FOR TODAY
I CALL ON YOU TO LISTEN TO ME
    WHEN MY LIFE GOES AWAY

    YOU GIVE ME THE STRENGTH
    TO JUST CARRY ON
    I KNOW THAT IT’S TRUE
    I CAN’T BE WRONG

I HAVE A SHOULDER TO CRY ON
    WHEN THINGS GO MY WAY
THROUGH THE GOOD TIMES AND THE BAD
    FOR NOW AND EVERY DAY

I NEED A SHOULDER TO CRY ON
    BABY, NOT JUST FOR TODAY
BUT EVERY TIME I NEED A FRIEND
WHEN THINGS DON’T GO MY WAY

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
