    Poem Commentary

MOST OF US GO THROUGH BAD TIMES IN OUR LIFE AND SOMETIMES THEY CAN ENVELOPE US SO MUCH THAT WE LOSE PERCEPTION. I WENT THROUGH A REALLY ROUGH TIME WHEN FEAR OF THE NIGHT AND WHAT WIULD HAPPEN CRIPPLED ME. I THANK GOD FOR LOVE, FRIENDS AND HELP THAT BROUGHT ME TO A PLACE WHERE THIS POEM IS NO LONGER REAL FOR ME, BUT I DO LIKE MY POEM, HOPE YOU DO TO.

    AFRAID OF THE NIGHT (DARK)

    AFRAID OF THE NIGHT (DARK)

    IT'S DARK NOW.
THE RAIN PATTERS ON MY WINDOWSILL.
    LOOKING OUT THROUGH THE WINDOWS
INTO THE DARKNESS OF THE NIGHT,
    I SEE REFLECTIONS OF LIGHTS
    I SDEE REFLECTIONS OF ME.

    SOMETIMES, LOOKING OUT
    INTO THE DARKNESS, I WONDER
IS IT DARKER HERE ON THE INSIDE
THATT IT IS ON THE OUTSIDE?
    NO IT'S ME.

THE SUN RISES, I SEE THE LIGHT
    A NEW DAY HAS DAWNED.
I FEEL THE WARMTH OF THE SUN
AND LOSE THE COLD OF THE NIGHT
AND MY HEART SINGS A NEW SONG!

    THERE ARE NO REFLECTIONS
FOR ME TO SEE AND UNTIL NIGHT COMES AGAIN,
    I AM TOTALLY FREE.

love this poem. I especially like the line, "I see reflections of me." I believe the one thing we fear facing most is ourselves.

T Y very much. Been writing for a long time but posting & chatting are new to me. Your statement is so true. One of the fairly recent things I learned after much tradgey was to look into the mirror and my eyes and tell myself that everything is going to be fine among other things. We cannot really love others until we learn to love ourselves. God Bless & thank you for reading & your vote.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
