    Poem Commentary

It only took a few days for "Trouble", a border collie and Australian shepherd mix, to become my dog, instead of his owner's. When I took him in, it was amazing to me at the unconditional love and senses he had regarding me and my illness and moods. When we had to put him down, we cried for hours however to watch him suffer and not to be able to do what he was meant to do would have been cruel. So for all dog lovers out there, I hope this poem touches you.

    "TROUBLE" MAN'S BEST FRIEND

    "TROUBLE" MAN'S BEST FRIEND

There's an emptiness now that hurts so deep
we had to put our beloved pet to sleep.
"Trouble" was his name, but unfittingly so
for he was so friendly, tame and loving
our companion and our best friend
who gave unconditional love, right to the end.
Although our hearts hurt now and the sorrow is deep
and it's difficult for us nit to weep,
he suffers no more and again runs free
in open spaces where he so loved to be.
We know his love we'll have for all eternity
and he knows he is not forgotten, in our hearts forever he'll be.

Sweet "Trouble" is happy, for now he runs free!
