    Another "A" Unrecognized

    I got another “A” today…

The mom let out a sigh

Well I was going through the mail she said

And my phone bill is too high.

The boy stared at his mom in shock

    Not knowing what to say

    Because somehow, for some reason

    He received another unrecognized “A”

I got an “A” in every class again

    That boy said with cheer

Your brother has left to France she replied

He’ll be gone for half the year

All I, the boy, could think about

    Is Marsha x3

    Because somehow, for some reason

    Nothing is ever about me

The more “A”s I get, the more they ignore

I take the liberty to put them on the refrigerator door

    But somehow, for some reason

They find the need to say, “Why don’t his sisters ever bring home an “A”?

For that one moment I felt it was all about me

Compared to feeling like an “A” was no longer a lot.

Until I sat down to think and realize, they’re not caring about the “A”s I do get, just the one’s my sisters Do Not!

So now the boy gives himself the praise; that his parents lack

And decides to stretch his hand over his shoulder, and pat himself on the back

But now, for every reason he cares nothing about what his parents have to say

Because he, and Ivy League, and everything else he cares about; will recognize his “A”s

This is really good. I really like how you ended this, to me it says that you know even if the people you want most to realize something you've done and they don't. You still have yourself and others that will care and praise you for it. I don't know if that's what you intended to say but that's what I got out of it.

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.
