Beauty of the Darkness
Twinkling starlight fills the sky…
Oh the dark and misty sky…
So soft and endless; lifeless neigh;
“Why the darkness fearless cry!”
In still and quiet mourns of hope…
The dark caress the mountain slope;
And spreads beyond the faceless mope…
But---‘tis to fear the darkness…
Oh beauty—isn’t beyond thy sphere…
So far—so far; you can’t compare;
To that of all the hemisphere…
But first…thy must cease the fear…
And rise above those dreaded drears;
While hiding in those back woods snares…
And casting down your scornful stares…
For fear of the darkness;
Beauty lies…deep in the soul…
Not in deceitful stories told;
So how to shake the binds that hold…
The mind to utter darkness…
Cling not to the lies of yore…
Pass beyond or go before;
All the things which we adore
Will make that happy metaphor…
For night is day and day is night…
And darkness comes before the light;
Yet in the darkness there is sight…
Beyond the regions of thy fright…
Cling not to the lies of yore…
Pass beyond or go before;
All the things which we adore…
Shall make a mystic metaphor…
And beauty lies beyond the door…
Of thoughts and dreams, but never sure;
To hide its incandescent lore—incandescent lore…
And side by side their needs the same;
Yet never knowing the others name…
Because the thought of fear or shame…we must refrain.
I—Oh I; do know it clear…
In darkest beauty none compare;
And so I contemplate the leer…
Of others far beyond their sneer;
While one day it will come to pass…
When last is first, and first is last…
And words of darkness won’t bring fear…
But bring a joyful caring tear…
“So beauty of the darkness…
In time your day will come…
When some will see your darkest light;
And others will share your hum…
For long your sighs;
And long your cries…
And long your moans unheard…
But time will wear;
For those who dare…
To live and persevere…For Beauty Is In Darkness!”
