When Morning Came
Regress now light of morning---back to darkness…
That I may find what lost I in a dream;
Resemblance bore she---that of which I prayed for…
With hopes of love I’ll once again redeem.
In pureness set my heart to seek and find her…
In vision set my mind to wander free;
A captured glimpse has vexed my very soul now…
And restless sleep invades my equanimity.
What saddened joke was played to end this vision…
Not hesitating for a second look;
Its radiance illuminated every parcel of my mind…
Without regard for anything it took.
Regress now morning back into the darkness…
For there is where my heart---did find the light;
Who needs you now to conjure up new hope…
When all I lost was never even right.
I thought my life was filled with all I’d hoped for…
But nothing could prepare me for this twist;
The game of love was played without commitment…
So hindsight now I only…reminisce.
What words I gave to make her grasp my heart so…
And squeeze the light of life from deep within;
Then give to me a hollowed shell of darkness…
From here is where my story did begin.
Regress now light---back to my heart of darkness…
For what I’ve seen cannot be what life is;
A glimpse of happiness only for a moment…
Unfair the light to steal what I now miss.
